¡20- faktaa Espanjasta ja espanjalaisista!

Moikka!

2.) Sosiaalinen kulttuuri on ihan erilainen.

3.) Espanjassa ei puhuta englantia. Täällä on tosi harvinaista löytää ihmistä jonka englanninkielen taito olisi lähelläkään sujuvaa + voin huoletta sanoa että suomalaiset lukio-opiskelijat puhuvat sujuvampaa englantia kun paikalliset englanninkielen opettajat!

4.) Ruoka on tosi erilaista verrattuna suomeen.

8.) Asenne elämään on kokonaisuudessaan tosi erilainen.

11.) Opettajat on tosi lepsuja ja kertoo koevastauksia mielellään, jos niitä kokeen aikana sattuu kysymään.
12.) Kännykkä on täysin demonisoitu jokaisessa koulussa.

16.) Ihmiset puhuu tosi kovaäänisesti. Suomalaisen korvaan kuulostaa siltä että kaikki huutaa. Myös kaikkien suomalaisten yhteisesti kammottu sosiaalinen hirviö, nimittäin päällepuhuminen, on täällä tosi yleistä.

17.) Elekieli on paljon monipuolisempaa täällä. Saa nähä oonko Suomessa ihan outo ku mulle on tarttunu täällä nää eleet ja kovaan ääneen puhuminen :D

18.) Yksityisyyttä ei pidetä niin tärkeenä kuin Suomessa. Tai ainakin sen konsepti on erilainen. Myös asioista, joita suomessa pidetään yksityisinä (sairaudet, perhesuhteet etc.), puhutaan julkisesti. Monesti opettajat kysyy mun korvaan tosi henkilökohtaselta kuulostavia kysymyksiä oppilailta koko luokan kuullen.

19.)  Alkoholin käyttö on ihan eri tasolla ku Suomessa. Espanja on alkoholin käyttöä mittaavalla listalla numero 7. Suomi numero 14. Melkein joka tilanteessa on tyypillistä juoda.

20.) Kaikkeen suhtaudutaan todella radikaalisti täällä. Täältä ei kauheasti löydä sellasia ihmisiä joiden mielipiteet kulkis jossain välimaastossa.

Hey! I thought I'd do a post with 20-facts of the Spanish people and Spain in general. I want to stress that I'm not doing a comparison because I believe there is no such thing as a better or a worse culture, they're all just different.

1.) In general the Spaniards are not really fond of  the French. The reason is (according to the Spaniards) the fact that the French think that they're a higher-level society. Spain has also had a colourful history with France, France tried to conquer Spain but never really succeeded. You should never compare Spain to France because the reaction here in Spain is usually this:

2.) The social culture is very different. The Spaniards are rarely alone, your always supposed to be with your friends/family.

3.) They don´t speak English in Spain. Here it's really rare to find a person that has an English skill even close to fluent + I can easily say that the Finnish college students speak better English than the local English teachers!

4.) The food is very different compared to the one in Finland. Here one doesn't really eat a lot of salad and different oils are used a lot with the food. The breakfast is probably the most different meal here, it usually consists of a cookie/glass of milk.

5.) Education is not valued as much here as it is in Finland and a lot of people stop studying after high school and move on to the work life.

6.) Sarcasm.just.doesn't.work.

7.) Everything is super cheap here compared to Finland, on the other hand the salaries are also a lot lower. You get a good picture of this when you think that the average salary of an experienced doctor here is 2500e per month.

8.) The attitude towards life here is overall very different. Here the people don't think so much about the future and live in the moment.

9.) They are not happy with their country. I've asked quite a few people about their opinion on Spain and 95% of the time it's negative.

10.) The people gossip a lot. But then again they don't hold grudge for a long time and fights are often handled with a very typical and quick telenovela-style.

11.) The teachers are really chill and they happily tell the answers to the tests if you happen to ask.

12.) Mobiles are totally demonized in all the schools. If someone get's caught with a phone in the hand it means you get it back at the end of the school year (that's summer). I'm sure it's going to feel weird in the fall when I continue my studies in Finland where I always take the notes with the phone.

13.) Our cultures admire each other. By that I mean that in Finland we think of Spain as a warm Mediterranean country where people are social and everything is cheap. Here in Spain they think of Finland as an example of a welfare state and a pioneer in education.

14.) Here the old people are all the time outside with their friends and they don't spend a lot of time indoors.

15.) The Spaniards are all but shy, they always say what they want.

16.) People speak really loudly. To a Finnish person it seems like everyone is shouting. Also the social monster feared and hated by all Finns which is speaking on top of other people is very common here.

17.) The body language is much more complex here. We'll see if I'll be all weird in Finland with my hand gestures and loud speaking habits :D

18.) Privacy is not regarded as important as in Finland. At least the concept is different. Also things that are thought to be private in Finland (sicknesses, family relations etc.) are spoken publicly. Many times the teachers ask the students questions that to me seem very personal in front of the whole class.

19.) The alcohol usage is on a whole different level compared to Finland. It's normal to drink practically on every ocasion.

20.) All the people here have very radical opinions. It's hard to find a moderate.

Thats's about it!
